Stonework repairs to Holy Trinity Church, Rudgwick

The quinquennial inspection and report prepared in 2015 at grade I listed Holy Trinity Church, Rudgwick identified a number of areas of stonework requiring repair. Much of the pointing had been carried out in phases of hard cement pointing which had caused damage to the soft sandstone.

We are currently involved with works to this cottage on top of the Brendon Hills, Somerset where cement render has been removed to the south elevation and east and west gables and replaced with three coat lime plaster.

Permitted development granted for new barns

Working with Batcheller Monkhouse, we have assisted with the development of a scheme for two new barns within the South Downs National Park. One replaces a current structure and the second is located on a new site, providing accommodation for calves.

Jamie Cullimore’s courtyard water feature rose at The Rowans Hospice

This stunning rose made from scrap metal including fridges and ovens, the creation of landscape gardener Jamie Cullimore, will soon be installed as the centre piece of the water feature in the newly developed courtyard garden of The Rowans Hospice.

Second stage of ward refurbishment at the Rowans Hospice handed over

We have just handed over the second stage of the ward refurbishment at the Rowans Hospice, delivering a further eight en suite bedrooms for patients. This stage has also included the refurbishment of a specialist bathroom, as well as creation of additional storage, meeting spaces and snugs for use by the ward staff and relatives.

Stonepillow Christmas Kindness

Rather than sending Christmas cards this year, we are supporting local charity Stonepillow’s Christmas Kindness campaign. Stonepillow was formed in 1989 and works to support and empower homeless and vulnerable people to achieve sustainable independence and wellbeing in the area covered by Chichester and Arun District Councils.

We won two Awards at this year’s Sussex Heritage Trust Awards held on 25 November, with a third project being Highly Commended. The Sussex Heritage Trust was established in 1977 as a charity ‘to preserve, improve and encourage the appreciation of the architectural and natural heritage of Sussex’.

Planning permission granted for two storey extension to church hall of 13th century grade I listed St Margaret’s Church, Ifield

Following a planning committee meeting on 29 September, lasting late into the evening, we are delighted to have received permission on behalf of the parish of St Margaret’s Church, Ifield, Crawley, West Sussex for the demolition of the existing single storey annexe and new build of a two storey extension to the church hall.
